Some Things to Remember When Using Sandalwood Essential Oils
If you have ever walked into our office, or driven past our factory, you will remember the calming and unique aroma of Sandalwood.
Couriers, visitors, regular customers and clients all comment on how fantastic it must be to work in an office that smells so beautiful, and yes - we are very lucky!!
Essential oils are very sought after, there is much confusion over the quality and guidelines of what to buy and how to use it. At New Mountain Merchants, we work in the same buildings as the raw sandalwood that is delivered and processed so we see a unique side to the supply chain of sandalwood essential oil. This is why we have a few tips on how to buy sandalwood essential oil and how to use it.
Firstly and most importantly - always do a patch test.
Essential Oil is a concentrate. It takes many kilograms of plant to produce the 1 drop of oil you may use. Do not underestimate the power of essential oils. Test on your arm first and wait to see if your skin reacts.
Secondly - the sacred body of a woman.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding your body is caring for more than just you. If you are being careful about what you eat and drink, dilute essential oils in a carrier oil before applying to your skin. While Sandalwood essential oil has not ever reported to have any harmful relations, your body is a temple and being on the safe side is important.
Ancient Wisdom- they know their stuff!
Sandalwood Essential Oil has been used for thousands of years in many cultures. Long before modern medicine was developed. We don't need to put everything in a bottle, sometimes burning the chips or powder instead of essential oil can add more benefit to your day. Research the traditional uses, how did ancient cultures use the plant. Maybe there are methods you can adopt in your home. Sometimes listening to our ancestors is all we need, take the ancient advice, we don't know everything!
In many cases, it is ancient knowledge that has inspired scientific research to take place, and in most cases, the science confirms what our ancestors already knew! This is certainly the way it happened with Sandalwood!!
WA Sandlawood is sustainable!
Western Australia has the most sustainable resource of sandalwood in the world. All essential oils are from plant matter, so it is important to consider the source. The Western Australian species "Santalum spicatum" is managed by the Forrest Products Commision and has world leading sustainable practices in place.
Quality Control
At New Mountain headquarters we are fortunate to share a building with the Wescorp Laboratory. All New Mountain Merchants' essential oils are quality tested. New Mountain only sells 100% pure essential oils. We do not compromise on quality. All oils are graded and carefully packaged to ensure the highest quality is delivered to your door. All our oils are supported with scientific paperwork.
